Should you date if you are BROKE?

Hello, should dating be placed on hold if you do not have enough money to date? I started thinking about this after having a conversation with my friend. She states that it is pointless to date if the person cannot do anything for you. Dating should consist of something other than Netflix and chilling and our expectations should not be compromised because we desire companionship and long-term commitment. Our inability to find compatibility in potential mates, reinforces the need for women to be independent because of our perceived belief that we are only able to depend on ourselves. If dating is supposed to be preview of a potential mate’s ability to provide, are we at risk of letting good guys go because of their inability to pay?
